Students in Lagos State have expressed pleasure and happiness with the announcement made by Governor Babajide Sanwo -Olu that schools would reopen in the State from September 14th, 2020.
The governor had on Saturday announced that tertiary institutions will be allowed to open from September 14th, 2020, while primary and secondary schools may be reopened on September 21st, 2020.
The students Society of Nigeria , Lagos State Area Unit, commended the state government for the reopening schools.
The Governor said, βI am pleased to announce that tertiary institutions in Lagos State will re-open from September 14, 2020. We are also working towards the reopening of Primary and Secondary Schools anytime from September 21, 2020.
However, the decision to re-open the basic and secondary schools is not cast in stone and is subject to a review of our ongoing modelling of the stateβs response to the pandemic.
If Lagos state can reopen schools, then other states too can. Let us all be optimistic about resumption because time is not on our side and also, the government should also provide the basic amenities needed.
We can’t wait to resume πͺ
Let the Nigeria Government π³π¬ do the right thing!
No point rushing and then going on the same strike few months after resumption.
