GOVERNOR WIKE SUPERVISES THE DEMOLITION OF TWO HOTELS IN PORT HARCOURT.

The demolition of the hotels was supervised by Governor Wike and other officials of the Rivers State task force.
Hours after Governor Nyesom Wike ordered the demolition of two hotels for flouting lockdown order, the buildings have been brought down.

In a statement on Sunday, May 10, 2020,
Paulinus Nsirim, the state Commissioner for information and communications had said Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne would be demolished for violating the state government’s lockdown order.

However, shortly after the decision to demolish the hotel was announced, videos and photos of the buildings being brought down surfaced on Twitter.
The demolition of the hotels was supervised by Governor Wike and other officials of the Rivers State task force.
As part of efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus in Rivers State, had declared a total lockdown in parts of the state, and also ordered the closure of hotels.

Rivers  Governor,  Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Sunday monitored the demolition of Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme, and Etemeteh hotel in Onne both in Eleme Government local area in line with the  State Government Executive Order 6, which banned the operation of hotels across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

“We said if any hotel operates,  Government will bring down that hotel. We are doing what we have told people that we are going to do. Nobody wants to obey any rules. We are saying just for now, keep off, let us see how we can keep our people safe”, he said”.
The Governor said  that the focus on hotels is due to the fact that one of the cases in the state spread the virus from a hotel.

He said “Look at the rate of infections,  most of these people are found in hotels. Look at the man that died,  he was at Mingi Hotel in Rumumasi. Due to that contact,  we have had other seven cases.

It's totally wrong, he could have locked the hotels down for some months or weeks instead of taking such actions, such actions is evil, but sometimes in this country we need a leader with determination, if we continue like not respecting orders, that means this country will remain same, the story is two sides…. so it's good and not good… Geoff
