GOVERNOR WIKE SUPERVISES THE DEMOLITION OF TWO HOTELS IN PORT HARCOURT.
The demolition of the hotels was supervised by Governor Wike and other officials of the Rivers State task force.
Hours after Governor Nyesom Wike ordered the demolition of two hotels for flouting lockdown order, the buildings have been brought down.
In a statement on Sunday, May 10, 2020,
Paulinus Nsirim, the state Commissioner for information and communications had said Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme and Etemeteh Hotel, Onne would be demolished for violating the state government’s lockdown order.
However, shortly after the decision to demolish the hotel was announced, videos and photos of the buildings being brought down surfaced on Twitter.
The demolition of the hotels was supervised by Governor Wike and other officials of the Rivers State task force.
As part of efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus in Rivers State, had declared a total lockdown in parts of the state, and also ordered the closure of hotels.
Rivers Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Sunday monitored the demolition of Prudent Hotel, Alode, Eleme, and Etemeteh hotel in Onne both in Eleme Government local area in line with the State Government Executive Order 6, which banned the operation of hotels across the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

It's totally wrong, he could have locked the hotels down for some months or weeks instead of taking such actions, such actions is evil, but sometimes in this country we need a leader with determination, if we continue like not respecting orders, that means this country will remain same, the story is two sides…. so it's good and not good… Geoff
