Boredom is the state of being bored , it is a state of not knowing what to do. Boredom is an emotional and occasionally psychological state experienced when you are left without anything in particular to do, when you are not intrested in the surroundings either nor feel that a day or period is dull or tedious.

How bored are you? How do you deal with it? Or how bored have you been since this lockdown? You must have been really tired of staying at home and doing the same thing every day. Why not take advantage of this lockdown and learn new skils, read books and get better. I know it is not as easy as it seems but boredom is really not good for your health either.

There are circumstances surrounding you that must have made you to be bored. They could be;
1. INADEQUATE REST OR NUTRITION: Do you know that if you dont rest well and eat well, the feeling of being bored gets to you and makes you confused of what you want and what you dont want. Once rest or nutrition is inadequate, your brain is stressed leading to lost of thought, and boredom.

2. LACK OF CHOICE OR CONTROL OVER YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES: When you no longer have full control over your daily activities nor your choices, you tend to get bored. For example, in the cause of trying to curb this COVID-19 pandemics, there has been a lockdown and everyone is forced to stay at home to avoid futher spread of the virus. With this, you cant even go to work, school or carryout your normal activities to keep the yourself busy while earning, then you tend to get bored.
3. LACK OF DIVERSIFIED RECREATIONAL INTRESTS: You must learn to have diversified recreational intrests that keeps you busy and something you derieve joy by doing them. With this you wont easily get bored. Why not learn new things, leave your comfort zone and diversify.
4. POOR PERCEPTION OF TIME: Time they say” waits for no one”. Your perception about time must change because time wont wait for you. Take your time and work very hard because the days are rolling by and once opportunity I lost, it can never be regained.

Boredom is potentially as dangerous as STRESS. Scientist have proven that boredom is linked to early death due to things such as heart attacks and strokes. This process to death is avgradual one, why not get busy and be happy so you can live longer!


  • Be specific of what you want to do because boredom can prevent you from doing anything.
  • Socialize.
  • Put off your boredom robe.
  • Avoid procrastination.
  • Get your compass straight.
  • Learn new things.
  • Cut off distractions and fill schedule holes.
  • Eat and rest well.
